Floating Touch Screen Technology Demonstrated

Sony Mobile has posted a video of the Xperia Sola which also shows the new Floating Touch screen technology being used. The new control method allows you to hover your finger up to 2cm above the screen and still control a virtual mouse on the screen. When the item you want is highlighted you tap the screen to access it.

As mentioned recently, the Xperia Sola has a 3.7 inch screen which is powered by the BRAVIA engine. The operating system feels a little dated as it comes from December 2010 and is Android 2.3 although an update to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) has been promised. Hopefully that will come before Android 5.0 Jelly Bean as it will still then be out of date. That little annoyance aside, it looks like a quality smartphone with some interesting technology.
